Couples Therapy

Couples therapy is right for you and your partner if you genuinely love each other but feel stuck in patterns you can't break on your own. Whether your romance has turned into a roommate situation, or distance and conflict are creating barriers, we can work together to find your way back to each other.

Couples therapy helps when you're experiencing:

  • Painful distance despite loving each other deeply

  • Recurring conflicts that go nowhere

  • Communication breakdowns and misunderstandings

  • Loss of emotional and physical intimacy

I work with couples from diverse backgrounds, including interracial marriages, LGBTQIA+ relationships, and cross cultural partnerships. My role is to provide you with professional, unbiased support that helps you understand each other's underlying emotions and needs.

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT)

EFT is my primary couples approach and the gold standard in couples therapy research. This evidence based model helps couples create lasting relationship change.

EFT focuses on:

  • Identifying negative cycles that keep you stuck

  • Understanding emotions underlying your conflicts

  • Learning to express needs in ways that bring you closer

  • Creating secure emotional bonds between partners

  • Working with emotions with deeper vulnerability to foster attachment repair

The EFT process typically involves 8-20 sessions. EFT requires that I maintain empathetic connection with both partners. Rather than just communication techniques, EFT addresses the deeper emotional experiences driving your interactions.

EFT is grounded in attachment science. You're wired for connection, and secure relationships are essential for your wellbeing. When you learn to reach for each other in vulnerability and respond with empathy and connectedness, profound healing and intimacy become possible.
